Atlantic City Boardwalk Fire Under Investigation
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) ―
A 3-alarm fire that destroyed four shops on the Atlantic City boardwalk was under investigation Sunday. Deputy Police Chief Joseph Nolan said the fire broke out just before 7 p.m. Saturday inside a pizza shop at the
Central Pier.
Officials said the flames spread to two clothing stores and a photography shop. All four stores were destroyed.
Thick black smoke was billowing out of the pier on the beach side of the boardwalk, between St. James Place and Tennessee Avenue. Wind was blowing the smoke out over the ocean.
No injuries were reported.
