CBS 2 Preview: Back From The Dead
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Every now and then a story comes along that even those of us who thought we've seen it all in life find ourselves shaking our heads in disbelief. Tonight on CBS 2 HD News at 11, we'll introduce you to a Brooklyn man who survived after his heart stopped beating for more than 45 minutes, thanks to an amazing medical team in New York.
Three months ago Joe Tiralosi literally died. He walked into the emergency room at Presbyterian Hospital feeling sick and disoriented. One minute later he collapsed in cardiac arrest.
What happened next is nothing short of a medical miracle that even the doctors can't believe. That's because for the next 47 minutes, Tiralosi didn't have a heartbeat.
"It's a miracle for which it is difficult to find words," said Presbyterian Hospital's Dr. Flavio Gaudio.
Some way, somehow, Tiralosi is living to tell his story, and he spoke out exclusively to CBS 2 about his experience.
"These doctors did not stop. Without them, and I'm serious when I tell you, I wouldn't be here," Tiralosi said. "Not a moment goes by that I don't take for granted every second, because I know it only takes the blink of an eye to lose your life."
Tonight on CBS 2 HD News: What happened? How did these doctors save his life? What does he remember? And who does he give the most credit to? Be sure to tune in for the CBS HD News Exclusive: "Back From The Dead!"
