Off-Duty Correctional Cop Hits, Kills Pedestrian
Veteran Officer Arrested For Driving With Suspended License
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
An off-duty New York correctional officer was arrested Tuesday after striking and killing a pedestrian in Brooklyn with his SUV.
Police say a 38-year-old woman was crossing an intersection at St. Marks Avenue and Flatbush Avenue early Tuesday when the SUV hit her.
The woman, whose identity wasn't immediately released, was rushed to New York Methodist Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.
Police identified the driver as a 38-year-old man who has worked for the state's Department of Corrections at Sing Sing since 1977. His name was not immediately released. He was taken into custody and arrested for driving with a suspended license.
The victim's identity was not released.
