Hundreds of Hasidic Jews marched in a Brooklyn neighborhood and blocked traffic to protest the assault and robbery of a Jewish teenager.
The group marched in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, briefly blocking traffic on Eastern Parkway.
Police said the 16-year-old left his home just after midnight Friday and was attacked and robbed. Police say his bicycle, watch and cell phone were stolen.
Police said the assault is being investigated a possible hate crime. Officers are looking for witnesses.
The area has recently seen tension between Jews and blacks who have coexisted, usually peacefully, in the neighborhood for decades.
Black leaders in April expressed outrage after a 20-year-old black college student was attacked the neighborhood by two Jewish men in what police described as a hate crime.
