NY Man Gets 25 Years In Shooting Of Cabbie

Josiah Galloway Convicted Of Attempted Murder, Assault, Other Charges For Shooting Cab Driver In The Face

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) ― A New York man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting a cab driver in the face following a dispute with a different group of cabbies.

Josiah Galloway was convicted last spring of attempted murder, assault and other charges in the May 2008 shooting in Hempstead.

Prosecutors say the 23-year-old Galloway initially had argued with a group of cab drivers about their cars being double-parked. After that first skirmish, Galloway returned about 10 minutes later and shot a cab driver who had no role in the prior argument.

That victim, who was shot in the face, lost several teeth, and part of his jaw bone, but survived.
