Police on Long Island say two drivers have died in separate car accidents, including one involving a van carrying passengers.
Suffolk County police say 31-year-old Ivan Gonzalez was killed after he lost control of his car on Bayshore Road in Deer Park and struck another vehicle around 8:55 p.m. Sunday night.
They say he died at the scene of the accident. The passengers in the other car didn't have life-threatening injuries.
In a separate accident, Nassau County police say 40-year-old James Lachere was struck Sunday night in his car while driving east on Atlantic Avenue in Freeport by a van carrying several passengers. They say he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police say the van's driver and passengers were also taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
