NJ Carjacking Suspect Dies In Crash
ELIZABETH, N.J. (CBS) ―
Officials say a carjacking suspect died after the vehicle he was driving slammed into another while being pursued by police in Elizabeth.
Police say the suspect forced a woman from the Cadillac Eldorado at gunpoint on Monday night.
Officers spotted the vehicle about 20 minutes later and gave chase. The vehicle crashed at the corner of West Grand Street and Standish Street.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as 40-year-old Marcellus Williams of Linden. He had been released from prison in March 2008 after serving a five-year sentence for weapons possession.
Two passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. They're charged with receiving stolen property.
The driver of the other vehicle refused medical treatment.
