Influential Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez has endorsed Caroline Kennedy's Senate bid.
Lopez met with Kennedy Thursday and said he found her ''very knowledgeable'' about the issues he cares about, including housing, education, the environment and economic development.
Lopez plays an important role in Albany on housing issues, and he is chairman of the Kings County Democrats, a key slice of the state's electorate.
He called Kennedy ''extremely personable'' and said she displayed a great understanding of the issues.
Kennedy, the daughter of slain president John F. Kennedy, is seeking to be appointed senator by Gov. David Paterson should Hillary Rodham Clinton be confirmed as the next U.S. Secretary of State.
