A wake is set today for a Mount Vernon police officer who was shot dead by Westchester County police last week.
Governor Eliot Spitzer paid his respects yesterday to the family of 23-year-old Christopher Ridley. The governor met privately with Ridley's relatives at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, where the funeral is to be held Friday.
Ridley was shot and killed last Friday in White Plains as he apparently tried to break up a fight outside county social services and government buildings. Four county officers were involved in the shooting. White Plains police are investigating.
Ridley has been posthumously promoted to detective.
