A man who climbed The New York Times building over the summer to promote the fight against malaria has been indicted on criminal charges.
Renaldo Clarke was indicted Tuesday in Manhattan court on three counts. If he is convicted of the most serious a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment he could go to prison for a year.
Clarke climbed the building June 5 hours after Alain Robert, who was not charged. Robert is known for scaling buildings to promote the fight against global warming. Clarke was unknown. Clarke's attorney calls the indictment ''disappointing.''
A third man who scaled several floors of the building July 9 also has been indicted.
The Times has since made changes to the facade to deter other would-be climbers.
