A Middlesex county woman was one of the flight crew killed in the Continental Flight 3407 plane crash just outside of Buffalo on Thursday night. Her family spoke out to CBS 2.
There is grief and sorrow at the home of Matilda Quintero, one of the five members who perished in the flames of the crash. Family members, including her 90-year-old mother and her two daughters, got the terrible news soon after the crash.
"Not too good, not really doing too good," said Cecilia Quintero, one of Matilda's daughters.
Quintero's daughter says the 56-year-old, who lived in Woodbridge, had just switched careers, becoming a flight attendant less than a year ago. Cecilia admitted she was concerned about her mother's new job every day.
Matilda Quintero had battled obstacles all her life. She was a breast cancer survivor and 10 years ago she lost her husband to a heart attack.
Family members spent the day reaching out to family.
"I reached out to my family in Columbia which has been a struggle all day but I finally got them," her daughter said.
Relatives say Quintero was looking forward to attending her older daughter's graduation from Drew University in May and was finally starting to enjoy life with a new boyfriend, who received an e-mailed picture of her right before the flight took off.
The picture shows Quintero standing in front of a Continental plane before taking off for Buffalo.
