The former owners of the Tropicana Casino and Resort want to get back into Atlantic City badly enough that they'll consider trying to buy or build another casino there if their bid to regain control of the Tropicana fails.

New Jersey's Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal by the former owners of the Tropicana Casino and Resort that could delay the casino's sale until late in 2009.
Chief Justice Stuart Rabner signed the order last week.
The high court will rule on whether the state Casino Control Commission was correct last December in stripping the corporate affiliates of the casino's former owner, Tropicana Entertainment, of their license and putting the casino up for sale.
An appeals court upheld that decision in July.
Tropicana lost its license following a period of mass layoffs and regulatory violations. The casino has been under the control of a state-appointed conservator until it can be sold.
