From the beaches to summer businesses, the hits just keep on coming for the Big Apple's summer economy.
Hot dogs were not hot sellers at Nathan's Coney Island. For the second weekend in a row, shore-side vendors were loosing money.
"When it rains, no one comes to the beach," said Eddie Maddalena.
"It hits everybody. It affects everybody and I feel bad for the merchants too," said Marcelle Santillane of Bayshore.
Santillane was on Jones Beach's barren boardwalk, steps away from an empty food court that did not look open, but was.
On a summer Friday night, the place should have been packed. "It's been exactly like this. It's been like a ghost town," said John Sheik, food court manager.
In Manhattan, city dwellers hopped onto the Hampton Jitney bus line for a weekend at the beach, but this time there were a lot more empty seats.
"It does look less crowded than usual. I think people were scared off by the weather," said Trish Botta of Jamesport, Long Island.
Trying to make the best of it Friday night was Jennifer Grotz, who treated her 5-year-old son Aiden to a soggy Oceanside picnic. She won't be coming back to the beach this weekend.
"I guess go to the movies, do some cleaning in the house, get ready for school, that kind of stuff," Grotz said.
