Recent consumer surveys show in this economy, many Americans are now hesitant to buy green products because they cost more, but there are ways to save green on eco-friendly products.
Pam hudson likes to fill her fridge with organic foods, but her choices are not always healthy for her bottom line. "Sometimes it's cost prohibitive. Times are tough right now," she said.
So now, before heading to the supermarket, Hudson heads to her computer. At sites like GoGreenDeals.com, PristinePlanet.com and Ecobunga.com, you can find the latest in eco-friendly coupons.
Some you can print and take with you, and others are codes you can use online.
"Some of them are .50 cents, $1.00, even more. And because they're constantly refreshed, I get to try new products all the time," Hudson said.
And it's not just grocery stores. Shoppers who surf these sites can save a bundle on a slew of products and services.
"What they will see is a range of sales offerings, anything from free shipping to 10 percent off to 60 percent off," said Laura Meyer, CEO of The Ultimate Green Store.
Shoppers can find savings On everything from grocery store staples to eco-friendly clothing to cleaning supplies.
"We look for products that conserve water, save energy, that support organic farming," said Karen Schiff of Ecobunga.com.
Many of these sites also send e-mail alerts about sale items.
"We will send the deals on a daily basis or weekly. It's delivered right to their inbox so that they have a pulse on what's going on with the site," said Malcolm Newsome of GoGreenDeals.com.
The sites we spoke with said they check every offer and follow the guidelines of groups like Green America and the National Resources Defense Council" to make sure these products meet their eco-friendly claims.
