Ruling Delayed In 2-Town Eminent Domain Case
FAIRVIEW, N.J. (AP) ―
A resolution in an eminent domain case involving neighboring towns in northern New Jersey has been postponed again.
State Superior Court Judge Peter Doyne initially was to have ruled by early next week on the dispute involving the towns of Fairview and Cliffside Park over a warehouse in Fairview. But on Friday, Doyne gave the parties until April 8 to file additional motions.
Fairview initially opposed Cliffside Park's attempts to use eminent domain to take the property, but town officials now support the move.
Property owner Bridget Tapkas has rented the warehouse to Cliffside Park since 2007 and has resisted the town's efforts to take it. She says the two sides are still far apart on a sale price.
