Workers at a cable T.V. installation company on Long Island are filing a complaint with the New York State Human Rights Division saying a noose hung in the workplace promotes an atmosphere of racism and bigotry against black workers.
The complaint to the State Division of Human Rights was detailed today at the law firm of Leeds, Morrelli and Brown in Carle Place.
However, the President of the company - 180 Connect in Farmingdale - says he is "shocked by the situation." Nick Wainright says the company is investigating the complaint. He could comment no further.
According to the complaint, four black employees say a noose was placed in the work area on December 7th and was left there despite repeated complaints to management who are all white.
