1 Dead, 2 Injured In Newark Airport Shuttle Crash

NEWARK (CBS) ― One person is dead and two others critically injured after a courtesy bus crash at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman says a shuttle operated by the Newark airport Marriott and a First Transit bus contracted by FedEx to carry employees collided head-on along South Service Road around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The shuttle bus driver was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Newark.

Port Authority spokesman Mike Hall says a shuttle passenger and the driver of the bus remain hospitalized.

No names have been released.

Port Authority police are investigating the crash.

Chopper 2 HD was over the scene of the accident. The courtesy bus seemed to have absorbed the brunt of the impact, with most of its front end crushed in.
