Fire Destroys 5 Homes In Bronx
NEW YORK (AP) ―
Authorities say five firefighters have been hurt as flames raged through five houses in the Bronx. The firefighters have been taken to hospitals, but all their injuries are described as minor.
More than 135 firefighters battled the three-alarm blaze on Washington Avenue near the East Tremont area for about two and a half hours. The fire was under control shortly after 8 p.m.
The fire department says three of the houses were occupied, but no civilians were hurt. The other two houses are vacant.
The FDNY is investigating what caused the blaze.
