Private Service To Be Held For Heath Ledger

Family Flying In From Australia

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Only close relatives and friends were to be invited to pay their respects to Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger at a private viewing in New York City.

The service was expected to be held at the Frank E. Campbell funeral home on the Upper East Side. Ledger's family was flying in from Australia Friday.

Details on the service were closely guarded, and all the funeral director would say is that Ledger's father Kim just "wants to be with his son."

Ledger's former girlfriend Michelle Williams is expected to hold a private service somewhere in the city with close friends before the body is flown back to Perth, but Ledger's publicist said no details would be shared with the press.

The cause of the actor's death will not be answered for at least a week, after the medical examiner completes toxicology reports.

Police say there was no note, only an apparent accidental overdose of drugs. Six different prescription drugs were found in the apartment, including sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medicine.

In Australia, two uncles of Ledger say their nephew would not have taken his own life. "It was his vibrance and his personality that really got people together," Haydn Ledger said.

"There's fun-loving memories of a fun-loving trickster. He always liked to follow cousins and play tricks on them," Mike Ledger said.
