AGAIN: 9-Year-Old Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver
Witnesses Tell CBS 2 HD The Motorist Screamed Expletive At Little Victim And Then Drove Away
BROOKLYN (CBS) ―
A 9-year-old Brooklyn girl was clinging to life Sunday night after being mowed down by a hit-and-run driver.
Nacirema Brown was run over Saturday night at around 8:45 p.m. in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn.
The fifth grader is in critical condition with massive head injuries.
Witnesses told CBS 2 HD the driver of a tan Nissan Maxima got out and screamed an expletive at the little girl after hitting her. He then just drove away.
The incident came on the heels of an 11-year-old killed by a hit-and-run driver in Flatbush on Saturday morning.
Rondell Grant Jr. died at a nearby hospital. Police arrested a 19-year-old man later in the day. Footage of the incident was captured by a neighbor's surveillance camera.
Brown's mother is praying her little girl survives and that the NYPD catches the driver.
"Right now they're telling me it's a 50-50 chance, so all I can do is just say God will pull her through. She'll be alright," Dakema Brown said.
Police found the Nissan abandoned on a nearby street, but still haven't found the driver.
