L.I. Car Collision Seriously Injures 2 Children
COPIAGUE, N.Y. (CBS) ―
Two small children suffered serious injuries when a car hit the vehicle they were in as their mother was making a U-turn.
Suffolk Police said the woman was making the turn at a Copiague intersection shortly after midnight Sunday. Her 6-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter were in the car.
Another car crashed into the woman's vehicle. Her son sustained a spinal injury and her daughter suffered a skull fracture. The woman was injured in her hip and the other driver had a broken arm.
Authorities issued a summons to the other driver for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Corona received a summons for an inadequate restraint system for her son.
As of the last census, Copiague had a population of over 21,922.
