The USS Intrepid dominated the west side of Manhattan for more than two decades. It is presently in New Jersey undergoing repairs while its Hudson River dock is being refurbished.

The U.S.S. Intrepid is set to leave the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal today and go into an adjacent dry dock.
That's where the floating military museum will undergo a makeover.
More than 6,500 gallons of paint will be used to cover the World War II-era ship from bow to stern.
Intrepid's four solid bronze 30-ton propellers will be removed. Two will be offered to the public for sponsorship.
