Gold Makes For Brilliant Fall Fashion

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Fall is in the air, and if you've already been shopping for your new wardrobe, you've probably seen some brilliant fashions. This season it's all about metallic, specifically gold.

All that glitters is gold in clothing, accessories and accents on everything.

"We're seen gold around for a long time. I definitely feel very strongly that it's not a fad," said Melissa Hoffmann, manager of the store Scoop. "It's a trend that's here to stay. Any age can wear it, whether it's a thread in a gold shirt or hardware on a bag, it's really a trend that's here to stay."

CBS 2's Kate Sullivan visited Scoop in Manhattan with a fashion crew from Glamour Magazine to see if the latest fashions are worth their weight.

"The thing about gold this season is that it's not as opulent and aggressive as we have seen in the past years," said Glamour Associate Style Editor Ashley Baker. "In fact, gold now looks new because we area painting it with darker colors and more women can wear it now more than ever."

One model wore one of the season's hottest trends, the gold miniskirt. A more burnished shade looks almost more like khaki. She added layered gold chains for an additional touch.

Another hot item is the gold sweater. One we saw looked like an oatmeal color, but looking closer you can see gold flecks in it.

The shirt dress is one of falls major trends. It can look very no by pairing it with gold accessories, like a chain belt.

If you're going to go gold, do it sparingly. Make sure that you are wearing one piece of gold at a time and start with basics like a shoe, evening bag or even earrings.

"I think that we are going to begin to treat gold like any other color, not like a metallic," said Baker.

These looks can be found just about everywhere at all price points.
