Online Forum On MTA Fare Hike Begins Monday

  The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is holding its first online forum on proposed fare and toll increases Monday.

The forum begins at 12:00 p.m. and is the last chance to comment on the transit agency's budget prior to a board vote December 19.

Elliot Sander, the executive director of the MTA, says the agency looks forward to the online forum, even though this year's debate on fare and toll hikes have been contentious.

The MTA is looking to raise railroad fares by an average of about 3.85 percent, but it will hold the bus and subway fares at $2. Tolls would also go up.

To participate in the online forum, you can register at www.mta.info.
