Officer Hospitalized After Attack On L.I.
BALDWIN, N.Y. (CBS) ―
An off-duty police officer was rushed to the hospital after a house party brawl. He was called to the home on Colony Drive in Baldwin by his teenage brother Friday night.
The teen said someone smashed a beer bottle over his head.
The off-duty officer arrived at the house, thinking his brother also called 911 for more help, but that wasn't the case.
"While at that scene the officer was confronted by three individuals who then assaulted him. He suffered contusions to his upper body and neck and a spinal injury as well," Detective Kevin Smith of Nassau County police said.
The injured officer was expected to recover.
Three men were charged with assault. A fourth man was charged with violating a Nassau social host law.
