Ex-NJ Lawmaker Faces Child Porn Charges
TRENTON (AP) ―
A former lawmaker who resigned after images of a naked girl were reportedly found in his office has been charged with reproducing, possessing and distributing child pornography.
According to state Attorney General Anne Milgram, Neil Cohen also faces an official misconduct charge, punishable by a mandatory five years in prison.
Milgram's office began investigating the Democrat after a staffer reported finding a printout of a nude adolescent girl this summer in Cohen's Union Township office.
Assemblyman Joe Cryan said he and state Sen. Raymond Lesniak, who shared a district office with Cohen, referred the case to the state Attorney General's Office.
Cohen gave up his Assembly seat in July and checked himself into a psychiatric hospital.
Cohen has not spoken publicly about the allegations. He could not be immediately reached for comment Wednesday.
