Metro-North Service Restored After Fatal Accident
RYE, N.Y. (AP) ―
Metro-North Railroad has resumed service on its New Haven line after a train hit and killed a railroad worker in Westchester County during the evening rush hour.
Spokesman Dan Brucker says a signal maintainer was hit by a New Haven-bound train near the Rye station around 7 p.m. Friday. The man's name has not been released.
At least a dozen trains were held at nearby stations, and service from Manhattan's Grand Central Terminal was suspended.
Metro-North spokeswoman Marjorie Anders estimates the shutdown affected at least 12,000 commuters.
She says service resumed at about 8:30 p.m.
