Gusting Winds Whip Across The Tri-State

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Hold on to your hats. It is ridiculously windy, and the winds pretty much here to stay. It is also mostly sunny and dry, so despite the winds, we're seeing a decent end to the weekend.

Winds out of the west and here in the city are whipping across the tri-state at 15 miles an hour. And with these kinds of temperatures, it certainly feels a whole lot colder than it is.

In some cases we still have some wet roadways and of course we have gotten some ice on the roads and some of that black ice to contend with, and what we had is a one-two punch with the rain and Friday and Saturday.

There is still some snow but that is in central and upstate New York. We had impressive rain totals across the tri-state, and from both days, with more than four inches in some locations, which means the ground is really soggy.

So one big wind gust is going to certainly topple some trees, and even some power lines and we already have extensive power outages on Long Island and in New Jersey.

Some flood warnings are in effect.

Certainly as you head into the lower Hudson Valley and Connecticut we have flood warnings because the rivers have yet to crest and we're going to have to wait for them to recede.

Despite the chilly temperatures, we are looking at mostly sunny skies, and we're going to see lots of sunshine Sunday, and even though things are going to continue to be windy or breezy. Tonight will be cold with clear skies.

As you head back to work on Monday, again we will see more of the sunshine later in the day and we could actually see a few more clouds, but again, we are getting rid of the wet weather. Today will be mostly sunny and dry, but significantly cooler than Saturday's high of 57 degrees.

We're well below normal Sunday, and we will be below normal for the next few days, but again, we're ending the weekend dry.

Just hang on to your hats and dress appropriately. It feels a lot colder than it is.
