Witness: Nixzmary's Mother Helped In Murder

BROOKLYN (AP) ― A Brooklyn court unsealed a transcript of more sickening testimony about the beating death of 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown.

A jailhouse informant testified earlier this week that Nixzmary's mother confessed to participating in the killing while she was awaiting trial at Rikers Island.

The inmate said Nixzaliz Santiago told her she became angry and jealous when she learned her husband was having sexual contact with the 7-year-old, but she directed her rage at the girl.

The witness is awaiting sentencing in a $2 million fraud cause.

She testified that Santiago told her she and Cesar Rodriguez killed Nixzmary together at their Brooklyn apartment two years ago.

She said Santiago told her Nixzmary was so "evil" that she nicknamed her "Diablo," meaning "devil" in Spanish.

The name of the witness was not made public.

Rodriguez faces second-degree murder charges for allegedly beating Nixzmary to death in the bathroom of a Brooklyn apartment.

Santiago is to be tried later on a second-degree murder charge.

Rodriguez admitted he beat Nixzmary and struck her with a belt, but claims the girl's mother delivered the final fatal blow.
