Mt. Vernon Man Arrested In Harvard Dorm Shooting
BOSTON (CBS) ―
A second man was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a Harvard University dormitory, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Blayn Jiggetts, 19, of Mount Vernon, N.Y. was arrested just before midnight Tuesday in New York City, said Corey Welford, a spokesman for the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
Jiggetts is scheduled to be arraigned in Manhattan on Wednesday.
He faces charges of first-degree murder, accessory after the fact of murder, carrying a firearm without a license, and armed robbery in Massachusetts, Welford said.
Cambridge resident Justin Cosby was shot inside an entranceway to Kirkland House dorm on May 18 in what authorities have said was a drug-related robbery attempt.
Cosby, 21 was shot in the abdomen and stumbled down the street before collapsing. He died the next day at a hospital. Authorities, who said he sold marijuana to Harvard students, found $1,000 in cash and one pound of marijuana near where he had been shot.
New York City songwriter Jabrai Jordan Copney, 20, is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to a murder charge.
Neither man was a Harvard student, although Copney's longtime girlfriend was a senior at the Ivy League school at the time of the shooting.
Prosecutors have said Copney and two other men arranged to meet Cosby at the dorm several days before the shooting, and gained entrance to the building with a key card obtained from a student.
Authorities are still searching for a third suspect.
District Attorney Gerry Leone said in a statement that the investigation is developing well.
No students have been charged in connection with the slaying, although university officials banned two senior women from campus after the shooting and barred them from graduation.
The University has about 2,401 faculty members.
Harvard spokesman John Longbrake said the university had no comment on the investigation.
