Clouds, Fog, Isolated Showers Bog Down Tri-State
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
For those in the Tri-State looking for the skies to clear and the summer-like weather to return, you'll have to wait a bit longer - Thursday and Friday will provide you little relief.
"The fog is sticking around, the cool temperatures are sticking around, and so is the rain," CBS 2 HD Meteorologist John Elliot says. "I'm shocked anybody else is sticking around and not throwing something at the TV right now!"
It's a humid, gray day in the Tri-State, with April-like conditions in June. The high so far has been 66, whereas the normal for this time of year is 78 degrees.
"In south Jersey, some of these thunderstorms are holding together – that's going to take until after the evening rush for them to make it in there," Elliot says. "But we may see a few isolated thunderstorms pop."
An organized area of low pressure is pushing into the area, and a lot of the energy is expected to translate north of the city. Stray showers should carry through Thursday evening, but later at night and overnight into Friday could see some of those isolated thunderstorms.
Clouds and rain will begin to move out early on Friday morning. Sunshine will return during the afternoon with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
"The weekend still looks nice," CBS 2 HD meteorologist Mike Latella added.
Saturday will feature partly to mostly sunny skies with highs near 80.
We will see a few extra clouds on Sunday. Highs will once again reach 80 degrees.

Friday: High 78, Low 60
A chance of thunderstorms. Showers likely...mainly in the morning. Highs in the upper 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Saturday: High 76, Low 66
Partly sunny. A chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Sunday: High 77, Low 63
Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s.
Monday: High 72, Low 62
Looking unsettled. Possible rain. Highs in the lower 70s.
