NYPD Shooting Leaves Armed Suspect Wounded

NEW YORK (AP) ― Police said a man who pointed a gun at officers has been shot and injured.

The officers said they were at the scene of a fire in Brooklyn early Saturday when they heard gunshots, and saw a man run across the street and collapse. As the four officers approached, they saw another man with a gun.

Police said the officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, but he pointed it at them instead. Three of the officers fired their weapons, but police said it is not clear whether those shots struck the man or whether he had already been shot by someone else.

The injuries were not life-threatening, and the man was taken into custody. The other man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Both wounded men were not identified.

Authorities recovered a loaded weapon, drugs and shell casings. The incident is under investigation.
