NYU Student Dead In Apparent Suicide At Library
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
A 20-year-old student at New York University apparently committed suicide by jumping from the 10th floor of the main library.
The body of Andrew Williamson-Noble, of Irvington, N.Y., was found at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in NYU's Bobst Library.
University spokesman John Beckman said that while the cause of death is still being determined, indications are that the student took his own life.
"The death of a College of Arts and Science junior early this morning in Bobst Library is a matter of great sorrow for the NYU community. In a close-knit community of young people such as ours, the death of a fellow student is always keenly felt," Beckman said in a statement.
He urged troubled students to seek counseling provided by NYU through the school's Wellness Exchange at 212-443-9999 (or 999 from any campus phone).
Bobst Library has an atrium design. NYU installed see-through barriers that made it more difficult to jump from its upper floors after two students jumped to their deaths there in 2003.
