A Long Island man has been arrested in the abuse of a pit bull.

The Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says the 22-year-old man faces a charge of animal cruelty.

He is accused of beating, kicking and hanging his pit bull by the collar from his backyard fence this month because the dog wouldn't stop barking.
