L.I. Man Accused Of Stabbing Family Pit Bill

MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) ― A Long Island man is accused of felony animal cruelty after police say he fatally stabbed his family's pit bull.

Suffolk County police say 35-year-old Lamont Yarborough stabbed the pit bull multiple times inside he family's home in Middle Island. Police and officers from the Suffolk Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were called to the home at about 5:15 Tuesday morning.

Authorities did not immediately identify a motive for the killing.

Yarborough was facing arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip. The name of his attorney could not immediately be determined. A necropsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of the dog's death.
