Police: Fake Plumbers Steal $1,900 From Elderly

NEW YORK (AP) ― Two men pretended to be plumbers so they could enter women's homes and steal from them, police said Monday. An 81-year-old woman and a 92-year-old woman were victimized.

The fake plumbers claimed they needed to go into one woman's Manhattan home on Aug. 20 to check her water pipes, police said. While one man looked at the pipes in the woman's kitchen and bathrooms, the other man stole $400 cash from her bedroom, they said.

The men went to the other woman's home about an hour later and stole $1,500, police said.

The men appeared on surveillance camera videos in one of the women's buildings, and police were looking for them.
