Shelter Looking For New Owner For Big Cat
BLACKWOOD, N.J. (AP) ―
There's no new owner yet for the hefty 44-pound cat found wandering Voorhees in southern New Jersey.
Vince Damiani at the Camden County Animal Shelter says workers there have about 150 applications to go through and that they'll make a decision in the coming week.
Damiani said there were many more inquiries about adopting the cat, but the shelter stopped accepting applications because there were so many already.
People as far away as London and California have asked about adopting the cat, called Powder, who is presently in a foster home.
The cat has received all sorts of attention in the past week -- including an appearance on "Live with Regis and Kelly" because of his weight. The fattest cat on record weighed in at just under 47 pounds.
