Police arrested two Newark men and charged them in the fatal shooting of a Roselle business owner, gunned down during a robbery in March.
Jimmie Session and Victor Russ, who are both 42, were charged with the murder of 64-year-old Jitendra Parikh of North Bergen. Police say the pair held up Parikh inside his store, the Skylark Discount Liquors, around 8:30 p.m. on March 18 and shot him twice during the robbery. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
They've been charged with felony murder, first-degree murder, robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Police also say the pair is responsible for several other robberies of liquor and convenience stores in the North Jersey area since last December, including two locations in Elizabeth, an additional Roselle location, and one in North Arlington, where a gun was displayed and fired. They also robbed a store in Millburn, but did not fire a weapon.
Session and Russ were arrested last Thursday on the 300-block of the McCarter Highway in Newark.
Earlier this week, CBS 2 HD News aired a story claiming Session and Russ were responsible for the Jersey City murder of 57-year-old Karitkumar Parikh during a robbery attempt. The two were not connected to that murder, however. Police are still searching for the gunman in that case.
