Conn. Man Killed In Fight With Samurai-Swords
WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) ―
Wallingford police say a 20-year-old man died Friday while being treated for injuries from a fight involving a Samurai-style sword.
A Southington teenager has been charged with assault in the case, police said Saturday.
Authorities say Shane Smith of Wallingford died Friday at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He had been hospitalized with cuts and other injuries from a fight Thursday, but authorities say the injuries initially were not considered life-threatening.
Wallingford police say they charged a 17-year-old male with first-degree assault Friday, but did not release his name because of his age. He was being held Saturday on $100,000 bond.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Smith's autopsy results could not be released Saturday because more studies were planned.
