A 12-year-old Sayville girl has been arrested after she sent an "alarming" text message to another student.
Suffolk County police say the girl has been charged with juvenile delinquency for committing aggravated harassment. She's to appear in family court.
Sayville School Superintendent Rosemary Jones says the message indicated "Someone is going to die at the high school tomorrow."
Police say the girl, who is a student at Sayville Middle School, used her mother's cell phone to send the threatening message to a male Sayville High School student's cell phone late Monday.
The boy's mother saw the message and contacted authorities.
Suffolk County Attorney Christine Malafi says a probation officer is scheduled to interview the girl on September 25.
The court will then decide if the charges against the girl will stick.
However Superintendent Jones says disciplinary action would be taken against the girl.
