School District Officials Investigate Porn Bill
UNION CITY, N.J. (CBS/AP) ―
School district officials are still trying to identify who charged $250 worth of pay-per-view pornographic movies to a school cable television account, watching the films after business hours.
Union City school district officials are presently investigating how someone used one of the many cable boxes in the Board of Education building to order the films, which are priced between $4.95 and $9.95.
The cable provider, Cablevision, has refunded the school district the money, and is helping to investigate the purchases.
"The board has cable boxes in the event of an emergency," education board attorney Thomas R. Kobin told the Jersey Journal of Jersey City for Saturday newspapers. "We are just a few minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel and New York City. There has been a history of attacks in New York City."
School officials noticed the $250 in charges in a February bill, and have since reduced the number of Cablevision boxes in the building from five to two.
