NEW YORK (CBS) ―
These are tense times for many New Yorkers. But if you're looking for a sure-fire way to relieve stress, this is the week for you.
The city's spas have a money-saving offer you won't want to refuse.
It's just in time to cut the tension in this stressed-out town.
"It feels like I can do it forever. I can stay here forever. I can come back here every say," said Aliya Hot, a customer at Squeeze Cream.
Hot is taking advantage of spa week. Two hundred spas across the city have lowered the price of many popular treatments to just $50.
"You can get anything from Mani Pedi's basic massages and facials, all the way to laser hair removal, non surgical facelifts that are normally $500," Spa Week media group rep Lindsey Gockenbach said.
Sharon Decker, co-founder of Squeeze Cream, said her phones have been ringing non-stop.
"For a lot of people it's a treat. They come with their friend, with mom, you know, so it's like a special day out," Decker said.
Spa Week began as a way to encourage healthier lifestyles, but with the troubles on Wall Street it brings new meaning to the term "economic relief."
"A lot of my clients are basically
because people are under more stress, feel more reason to come in for spa treatments, especially for massage," Decker said.
CBS 2 HD found Matt Reina on cloud nine at Homme, thanks to a gift from his girlfriend.
"[It's] completely relaxing," Reina said. "[I have] no concept of what time it is or how long I've been here,"
If you're still worried a day at the spa is too self-indulgent, part of the proceeds will help women battle breast cancer.
Feeling good while doing good, an offer few people could refuse.
