Alleged L.I. Highway Streaker Faces Charges
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Authorities have arrested a man accused of streaking naked along the Long Island Expressway.
The Suffolk County Sheriff's office said a naked man was spotted multiple times over nine days on the highway.
There was a pattern in the sightings, and deputies were on the lookout for something amiss when they arrested the man Thursday evening.
Authorities said he was spotted coming out of the woods and tried to flee in a 2004 Jeep.
The man, identified as 39-year-old Joseph Gagliano, of Yaphank, was charged with public lewdness, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
He was arraigned on Friday.
It was not immediately clear who represented the man, and he has no listed phone number.
Vincent F. DeMarco was elected to the position of Sheriff of Suffolk County on November 8, 2005.
