The Tappan Zee bridge has reopened after being closed for 15 minutes during rush hour -- after officials received a call from a motorist that someone had jumped from the span.
A bridge spokesman, Napio Metyass, said traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge is currently backed up on both sides. He added that the call from the motorist came at about 4-45 p.m. and officials briefly closed the bridge to traffic to begin a search.
The bridge was re-opened to traffic and a search is underway.
The Tappan Zee Bridge links Tarrytown in Westchester County to Nyack in Rockland County, across the Hudson River.
