NY Teacher Charged With Raping 16-Year-Old
ELLENVILLE, N.Y. (AP) ―
State police have charged a 39-year-old high school history teacher with sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl in his class.
Thomas Nolan of Loch Sheldrake in Sullivan County was arraigned on a third-degree rape charge in Fallsburg Town Court Thursday and released on $5,000 bail.
Nolan teaches history at Ellenville High School. The school said in a statement that Nolan was placed on administrative leave from all school activities.
According to Nolan's high school Web page, he coaches boys' soccer and girls' basketball and golf, and lives with his wife, a high school physics teacher.
State police say the incident happened in Loch Sheldrake and that the investigation is continuing.
Nolan's lawyer, Lee David Klein, didn't immediately return a call for comment.
