Movie Star To Star Witness: Uma Thurman To Testify

Her Alleged Stalker Faces 1 Year In Prison If Convicted

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The man accused of stalking Uma Thurman for nearly two years returns to court on Tuesday, and the actress is expected to take the stand.

His name is Jack Jordan, a 37-year old graduate student facing criminal charges of stalking and aggrivated harrassement.

"He denies...he never intended to harm her, scare her, threaten her, annoy her, any of the allegations," attorney George Vomvolakis said.

The actress did not appear in court for the first day of the trial on Monday, but her brother, H.M. Thurman, did. He said Jordan called his parents' home in April 2005.

"He claimed to be a friend of the family, wanted to get Uma's personal phone humber, then began to break down emotionally, saying if he didn't get my sister's phone number, he would kill himself within 24 to 48 hours," he said.

Lisa Grondin, Uma Thurman's personal assistant, testified that during a 2005 movie shoot in Manhattan, Jordan showed up at Thurman's trailer with a vintage postcard of the Empire State Building with several words blacked out on the back side.

Jordan also brought a handwritten note to Thurman that reads: "I fell in love with you. I think you should call me up, let me come watch you act on the set some more, we should date or move in together, and then get married. That's what I think. After all, I feel like you've been stalking me."

Jordan's attorney acknowledged the letter is disturbing, but not criminal. When asked if the letter is harmless, Vomvolakis said, "Everything is harmless."
