Fossella Still Prominent At Public Events
STATEN ISLAND (AP) ―
Vito Fossella has given up his congressional seat. But he hasn't relinquished his front-and-center role in the Staten Island Republican Party.
Fossella was invited to a school reading event this week. He recently got a standing ovation at a GOP dinner. And he was welcomed at Mayor Michael Bloomberg's campaign office opening.
Fossella seemed to sidestep a question Tuesday about whether he'd ever run for office again. In December, he told reporters he had "no plans whatsoever" to do so.
He left office after his Virginia arrest on a drunken driving charge led to revelations he'd fathered a child during an affair.
