Former state Sen. Wayne Bryant is honest and law-abiding.
That's what seven character witnesses testified to on Tuesday over the course of two hours at Bryant's federal corruption trial, now in its sixth week.
Among those who testified were two ministers, a deputy mayor, and a former council member in Bryant's home town.
Bryant's attorney, Carl Poplar, says no decision has been reached on whether Bryant will testify.
Bryant is accused of steering grants to a state medical school in exchange for a low-show job to boost his state pension. He's also accused of pension fraud.
The former dean of the state's School Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. R. Michael Gallagher, is also on trial for wire fraud in connection to Bryant's job at the school.
