NYC Subway Hero Goes For Big Bucks On TV Game Show

Wesley Autrey Plays For $ 1 Million Monday Night

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) ― The man who became a hero after saving the life of a stranger from an oncoming subway train is ready for prime time.

Wesley Autrey is appearing on "Deal or No Deal" game show Monday night. But he says he found himself hesitating more for the show than he did saving the stranger's life. He said there was no time to hesitate during his heroic act.

The 50-year-old Bronx construction worker was standing on a subway platform on January 2 when he saw a young man suffer a seizure and tumble onto the tracks.

Autrey jumped down, pulled the teen into a deep drainage trough between the tracks, and lay on top of him as the train passed overhead.

On the show, Autrey will be playing for $1 million.
