New York Fire Dept. Shuts Down Steamy Calendar

Firefighter Cover Model Appeared In 'Guys Gone Wild'

NEW YORK (CBS) ― A calendar featuring FDNY beefcake has seen its last edition. The fire commissioner has said, "no more," after the latest coverboy showed even more skin on a DVD.

The latest calendar picturing fire department hunks features Michael Biserta as coverboy, posing shirtless in front of the Statue of Liberty. But it turns out Biserta also appears in an explicit video called, "Guys Gone Wild," reports CBS station WCBS-TV in New York.

In a film shot before Biserta joined the department two years ago, the firefighter exposes himself at the urging of female voices and then, completely nude, heads for the shower.

The calendar is published by the FDNY Fire Foundation, a non-profit organization, that raises money for equipment and training. Last year the calendar raised $150,000.

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta has ordered any future calendars scrapped. And Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes, himself a former fire commissioner, agrees.

"You can't allow anything that tarnishes the reputation of the people on the job." Said Hynes. "It was profoundly poor judgment."

Last week, before the scandal broke, the calendar boys did a promotional event, at which the firefighters were playfully asked if they were single. Biserta's response was "No comment."

At the stationhouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn where Biserta is assigned, that was the same comment from fellow firefighters as CBS 2 tried to ask about the fallout from the DVD. We were also told Biserta wasn't in.

And at the Staten Island home of his parents no one answered the door. The 2008 calendar will remain on sale, but after 11 years, it will be the last.

Because the film was shot before Biserta became a firefighter, it's unlikely that he'll be subject to any disciplinary action.
